Thanks to 502 Bad Gateway for the lovely piece of Stylistic Cultural Evaluation.
The second Artist in our ‘Canvas’ art programme, Jennifer Louise Martin, has just revealed the first completed work – a customised Overall, combining paint, knit and embroidery. It’s a beauty.
We will ultimately be selling 10 Overalls when the ‘Layers’ show starts on August 2.
First come first served.
Given the success of our Robert Alonzi show in July, we are delighted to announce that our second contributor to the ‘Canvas’ programme is Jennifer Louise Martin – a Central St Martin’s Graduate whose current practise explores the intersect of fashion and art.
Her new show ‘Layers’ explores the language and materiality of layering, using paint, knit and hand embroidery. At its centre are some amazing Overalls – the first of which we are revealing on our instagram feed.
Ultimately, 10 uniquely customised Overalls will be available to purchase in our Soho store during the show.
The Private View is on August 2, then the show is open to the public on August 3 during shop hours.
Today, G2 in The Guardian published an article about the fashion for Overalls and similar suits – jump & boiler…
Apparently, we have ‘nailed the aesthetic’.
Haven’t we just.
Great to see our Robert Alonzi collaboration as the first part of our ‘Canvas’ art programme covered by the Hype Kings.
Private view tonight. Open to the public tomorrow at our Soho flagship.
As the start of our ‘Canvas’ programme of artist collaborations, we are immensely proud to be launching the debut UK show from celebrated Belgian artist Robert Alonzi this coming Thursday in our Soho flagship.
Alongside presenting 16 of his paintings & sculptures, Robert has been using some our Overalls & Coach Jackets as a canvas for his practise. The Jackets will be on sale during the show. Highly collectible and surprisingly wearable items.
Private View on June 28 from 1900. DM us to get on the guest-list.
Open to the public during store hours from June 29 thru July 22.
Delighted to have our colour palette celebrated by Clothes Make A Man.
June 22-24, we head to Paris to exhibit at Man Paris SS19 in the Hotel D’Evreux, Place Vendome, Paris.
We will have some great new product & stories to share at the show, and doubtless shortly afterwards when we return…
On June 29 our Soho flagship opens its doors to the public as both host and gallery to an extraordinary Belgian painter and sculptor Robert Alonzi. It will be his debut UK show, showcasing 15 works, plus some entirely unique pieces he has made specifically for us, using our clothing as a canvas.
Read the biography on his site and you will begin to understand why we have chosen to collaborate with Robert – he has exerted a very powerful work ethic from a young age to now and his work expresses a strong contemporary aesthetic.
Definitely worth dropping in.
The Private View of the show is June 28.
We have become friends with various brilliant artists, musicians & bands since we launched – from established names like Jungle or Loyle Carner to newer kids on the block like Oscar #Worldpeace, Zak Abel, Pines, Yawwn & Ama Lou. They are all out their earning their fans, doing the hard yards.
Then, yesterday, a bone fide pop star wore one of our signature garms on TV. Olly Alexander – frontman of Years & Years, icon, adored across the globe – was interviewed on BBC Breakfast ahead of the BBC Biggest Weekend, Olly wore our new illusion blue overall. He looked pretty fly.
Keep track of such moments on our Instagram feed.
